Doug's 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner "Rumble Bird"
The Rumble Bird is a ‘69 Roadrunner designed to keep pace with modern supercars but keep a clean understated look so anyone could tell it was a Roadrunner. Implementing modern amenities such as air conditioning, power windows, central locking, and LED lighting to make it a true pro-touring car. As the name suggests the car boasts a 1000HP Mopar Hellephant crate engine as the heart of the build and modern double wishbone suspension front and rear with CV axles instead of a solid rear axle, and a rigid hand-made chassis which converted the car from a unibody to a body-on-frame. In an effort to keep the looks period correct larger wheels were designed to replicate the original hub caps. Perhaps 20% of the original sheet metal remains unmodified, the rockers have been extended down and the bumpers hand shaped and modified to give an aggressive low look, with huge 14 inch sticky tires being shoehorned into the quarter panels and an extensive cooling package hiding behind the grill.
