Torque

Modern Corvette Performance. Classic American Styling.

Today's performance cars offer incredible horsepower, handling, and braking capabilities, but there's something timeless about the styling and character of classic American muscle cars. At Eckert's Rod & Custom, we believe you shouldn't have to choose between the two. That's why we developed the Torque 3G Chassis, a custom-engineered platform designed to bring modern Corvette performance to classic muscle cars and trucks.

Unlike conventional vehicles that use a transmission mounted directly behind the engine, the Corvette uses a rear-mounted transaxle, which combines the transmission and differential into a single assembly at the rear of the vehicle. This configuration moves substantial weight toward the rear, providing a more balanced front-to-rear weight distribution, improved traction, and more predictable handling. By incorporating the complete C5, C6, or C7 Corvette drivetrain architecture, the Torque 3G Chassis delivers the foundation for a classic car that performs like a modern sports car.

Built for Performance and Versatility

The Torque 3G is a fully custom-built chassis engineered to significantly improve the handling, braking, and overall driving experience of classic vehicles. Designed around Corvette suspension and drivetrain components, it offers a combination of strength, rigidity, balance, and serviceability that traditional chassis designs struggle to match.

The Torque 3G is available in several configurations, from a rolling chassis complete with suspension, steering, and brakes to a comprehensive package featuring your choice of engine, torque tube, rear transaxle, and suspension components.

Suspension options include factory-style composite mono-leaf springs or adjustable coilovers, allowing the chassis to be tailored to your driving preferences and performance goals.

The chassis accommodates a wide variety of engines and transmission combinations, including 5-, 6-, and 7-speed manuals, as well as 6- and 8-speed automatics. Custom engine-to-torque-tube adapters can also be fabricated for applications beyond traditional GM powertrains.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Exceptional chassis rigidity: An oversized structural X-member provides outstanding strength and torsional rigidity, creating a solid foundation for precise suspension performance.E

  • Balanced weight distribution: The rear-mounted transaxle helps achieve near 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution and a low center of gravity, improving cornering stability, handling, and traction.

  • Integrated plumbing: Brake, fuel, and exhaust routing are incorporated into the chassis's center tunnel, providing excellent ground clearance and a clean, organized installation.

  • Easy drivetrain servicing: The chassis is engineered so major drivetrain components can be removed from the center tunnel, offering improved accessibility compared with the factory Corvette arrangement.

  • Proven Corvette technology: Compatible with C5, C6, and C7 Corvette drivetrain components, including available manual and automatic transaxle configurations.

  • Custom-built flexibility: Engine, suspension, and drivetrain options can be tailored to your vehicle, intended use, and performance expectations.

Installation Considerations

The Torque 3G Chassis is not a bolt-in replacement frame. Installing it typically requires fabrication of a new transmission tunnel, modifications to or replacement of the firewall, and custom body mounts.

While these modifications require professional fabrication, the result is a purpose-built chassis that combines the unmistakable appearance of a classic muscle car with the driving dynamics and capability of a modern performance vehicle.

Backed by more than 100 years of combined chassis design and fabrication experience, the team at Eckert's Rod & Custom has developed the Torque 3G to deliver exceptional performance without sacrificing the character of classic American automobiles.
